SHOW RULES
ALL PRIZES, CUPS, MEDALS OR OTHER AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
- The Show will be conducted in accordance with the rules and standards laid down by the Royal Horticultural Society Handbook, except where modified by this schedule.
- All exhibits must have been in the possession of the competitor for at least eight weeks with the exception of floral arrangements,artwork and cookery classes.
- Pot grown plants must have been owned by the exhibitor for at least 1 year. The committee reserve the right to inspect the growing areas of competition before or after the show.
- The committee reserves the right to refuse any entry and is not required to give any explanation or reason.
- Competitors who cannot find space for an exhibit must consult a steward. Once staged, an exhibit may not be removed without permission from a steward.
- Competitors may show more than one exhibit in the same class.
- ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE STAGED BY 10:55 A.M. when the hall must be vacated. Judging will commence at 11:00 A.M. (Mini show does not apply)
- Whilst judging is in progress, only authorised officials, at the discretion of the show secretary will be allowed in the hall. The judge’s decision is final. (Mini show does not apply)
- Any protest must be made to the show secretary in writing on the day of the show.
- No exhibit may be removed before 4:00 P.M., but those not removed by 4:30 P.M. will be placed outside the hall for collection. (Mini show does not apply)
- EXHIBITORS VIOLATING ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES WILL FORFEIT ALL CLAIMS TO PRIZES AND ANY OTHER AWARDS.
- Any prize may be withheld or modified if the exhibits are considered by the judges to be unworthy.
- Points will be awarded as follows: -
1st prize – 5 points, 2nd prize - 3 points, 3rd prize - 2 points, Highly commended – 1 point. Additional points will not be awarded for special prizes.
- The Banksian and other medals may be awarded to any exhibitor, but cups and trophies will be awarded only to paid up members of the Society.
- Where imperial sizes are shown, the nearest metric equivalent will be accepted.
- More than one exhibitor from the same household may exhibit from the same garden or allotment.
- Society Vases must be used, with the exception of classes 6, 17, 20 and 36.
- Mini show rules are as above, all points will go towards the annual awards of cups and medals
